Slow The Clock! 5 Things In Your Life That Impact Aging

Diet and exercise impact aging.

Diet and exercise are important factors in aging.

With the growing demands on our time and attention in this fast-paced world, it’s not uncommon to feel as if we’re aging before our time.

Many of us barely make it through our busy days with constantly mounting tasks, emails and to-do lists. There is often little time to focus on our health and we end up feeling tired, fatigued and in some cases, depressed.

It doesn't have to be this way. By identifying the areas of our lives that have the most impact on aging, we can make lifestyle choices that improve our health, happiness and fulfillment to live longer lives. Here are 5 things in your life that may be impacting your aging:

  1. Diet and exercise. You hear it all the time for good reason. Proper diet and regular exercise are the best defence against premature aging and health problems.

  2. Lifestyle choices beyond just diet and exercise play a role in aging as well. Things like getting enough sleep, moderating alcohol use and minimizing stress go a long way in increasing your longevity.

  3. For many of us, we spend our days hustling through to-do lists, tackling emails and work-related tasks without giving much thought to how our work environment impacts our health. A safe and healthy work environment supports physical, emotional and mental wellbeing and contributes to a longer, happier life.

  4. Blue Zones are regions of the world where people live exceptionally long lives. If you don’t already live in one of these areas, there is a lot to learn from the diets, exercise habits and community lifestyle practiced in Blue Zones. These areas have low rates of chronic illness and people in these regions often live to over 90 or 100 years old.

  5. Preventative Healthcare puts cutting-edge technology to work for you. Screening for heart disease and cancer, anti-aging research and programmatic changes around mindfulness, exercise and diet allow people to fundamentally alter their health and wellbeing for greater longevity and wellness.
