Meet Dr. Sohan Mansingh
Meet Dr. Sohan Mansingh, MD, MBChB
Physician at WELL Health & Medical Longevity Centre in Vancouver for WELL Longevity+ assessments and 360° Care+
Dr. Sohan Mansingh never planned to be a doctor. At 17, growing up in Durban, South Africa, he stood at the crossroads of possibility, unsure of which path to follow. A decision to enroll in medical school felt like a leap into the unknown, but one that would change his life. “I still can’t believe I get to do this” he says. “Every day, I get to meet incredible people and be part of something deeply personal - their health, their stories, their lives.”
After earning his medical degree and practicing in South Africa, Sohan felt a pull for something different-something bigger. He considered moving to Ireland, until a phone call from his uncle in British Columbia shifted his course entirely. ”I hadn’t even thought about Canada, but something about it felt right. Six months later, I landed in Vancouver and never looked back.”
He settled into life on the West Coast, passed his Canadian board exams with flying colours, earning the Irwin Bean Award for the highest score in the country, then opened a thriving medical practice in Abbotsford. After eight years, he joined a clinic in Kerrisdale that would eventually become part of the WELL Health network. There, his passion for preventative, whole-person care found a new home.
“I’ve worked everywhere - emergency rooms, long-term care, and family medicine. But the real heart of it all is connection” he says. “People come to you at different stages of their lives - sometimes at their most vulnerable, and you get to walk with them, support them, witness their strength. That’s what drives me.”
One of the most transformative chapters of his career has been in palliative care. “Sitting with someone near the end of their life is the most humbling thing. There’s clarity, truth, and a kind of quiet beauty. It reminds me how precious and fleeting this all is.” That deep reverence for life and legacy has shaped his belief in proactive, preventative care. “We have to flip the script on healthcare - from reacting to illness to cultivating wellness. That’s what excites me about the Longevity+ programs at WELL Health. We’re not just treating people - we’re empowering them.”
Outside of medicine, Dr. Mansingh is endlessly curious. A recent Netflix documentary, Live to 100: Secrets of the Blue Zones, sparked his journey to Japan and Sardinia - places where people live remarkably long, connected lives. “For my birthday, I went hiking through tiny mountain villages in Sardinia. I wanted to understand what keeps people thriving. Not just living, but truly alive.” That same spirit of connection runs through his own life. “I’m lucky to have a tight group of friends. We talk deeply, laugh hard, hold space for each other. That kind of friendship is medicine, too.”
He also brings mindfulness into his day-to-day as a certified yoga instructor and meditation teacher. “Wellness isn’t just about lab results - it’s about how you feel in your body, your mind, your relationships. It’s about presence. That’s where the real healing happens.” Dr. Sohan Mansingh is part of the new 360° Care+ program, our primary care and family physician program at WELL Health & Medical Longevity Centre in Vancouver.
